Lifou, formerly Loyalty Isle. Our second island, second chance to break out the flippers and snorkel gear. Early morning tender across and then about a fifteen minute walk through steamy jungles, populated by mysterious monsters and giant pigs! Well, a hot walk along an island road, Miss G’s imagination supplied the rest š There was a decrepit enclosure with some island pigs inside, Miss G. had to go talk to them and apparently they talked back! This meant the rest of the walk was interspersed with frequent snorts as she demonstrated how the pigs and her talked!
Onto the bay, dropped our gear and walked down some freshly constructed concrete stairs and into the warm waters of the bay. WOW! Fish, coral, colour everywhere! Exquisite, almost as good as what Lorraine and I saw on our Wilson Island trip (Herself reckons it was better in some places). Georgia also went snorkelling with Ian and Tash, she loved it! A moment of panic while we where all way out meant she refused to put her mask back on so I piggy backed her in to shore. A packet of twisties soon cheered her up and we made our way back through the jungle, complete with side trip to say goodbye tpo the pigs, and back on board. Had a late lunch and then stayed on the Lido Deck listening to a fantastic band and drinking … um, I think I had a few pina coladas .. rums … red wines … phew! Great rock and roll, 70’s, 80’s, my type of music š Early night, ready for Noumea tomorrow.

Looks like you had heaps of fun. The one thing we regret is not snorkelling. Oh we’ll, next time. Hahaha!!! We heard others say the snorkelling on Lifou was exceptional. The entertainment sounds as enjoyable on your ship as we experienced. The kids sound like they are also giving you a lot of entertainment and pleasure. It is lovely to be able to share this experience with the Watt’s. You will be able to look back and reminisce. I am loving the pictures. Have fun in Noumea!!!! XXXX
Seems you are all having a wow of a time. Am very, very envious regards the snorkelling! Just love looking at those fish and coral. Weather looks near picture perfect. Great to hear of your adventures.
Looks and sounds sensational! The Sal’s just got back from their cruise yesterday. They paid 5 bucks for a Noumea bus tour on shore (not via the tours on the boat), worth investigating.
