Sister to The Gold Coast and Nice

No, not nice, Nice, in France 🙂 Noumea! Favourite liberty port of the PT-73 and today’s port. No tenders today, pulled right up to the wharf by Lil Toot and Grandfather Toot and walked off onto to the Port of Noumea. A shuttle bus dropped us off at the Passenger Terminal where we jumped on a $5 get-on get-off tour bus. Around the island to the Aquarium … doesn’t open until 10am! OK, let’s wander along the beach and play a bit, sand castles and fun 🙂 The aquarium was fun for the kids and fascinating for us as well. Back on the bus and further around to a bunch of cafes. Got off and bought a milkshakes for the kids and a Number One (local beer) for the kidults. More wandering around, gelato being eaten, chocolate being smeared on face, generally having fun. Back on the bus with young Master Oliver decided it was time for a sleep, no matter the erratic antics of our bus driver or the steadily increasing noise from it’s passengers. A shuttle bus ride, up the gangplank (arrrgh!) and all pirates are safely on board imbibing the days cocktail and watching the ship prepare to depart. Three hair raising (and ear piercing!) toots later we’re on our way to Mare, our last island … this trip!

Noumea was our first port of call. We had to pull into the container terminal the day we were there. We weren’t able to get into the usual port. So we were shuttled over to the tourist centre and from there we picked up a nice cheap tour, which was enjoyable. Sounds like you guys had another enjoyable day, finished with drinks. What a way to go. We didn’t go to Mare, so I’m looking forward to hearing all about it. Have fun. XXXX
