What a great place to stay! Mrs Always Right (or Herself) stayed here about 17 years ago. When we started planning this trip, I said I’d like to spend time in Vienna, as Lorraine had always waxed lyrical about how beautiful the city is. So, a bit of digging around, and a few emails later we secured a room for three nights. At $180 Euro per night, for such a central location, it’s a real bargain. It’s a bit hard to find, from a cab drivers point of view. Graben (the street itself) is a pedestrian plaza, and 17 Graben is just off the thoroughfare, drop off and walk about 50 metres. Great view from the balcony, clean rooms and a breakfast that includes fresh cooked rolls and croissants each morning. We loved it, and I’d totally recommend it as a place to stay while visiting Vienna.
Any words from Herself?
Yes…it is a quaint little place and the old world charm gives it a special feel….17 years ago the elevator was one of those double concertina gated old things …this has been renewed to a new style elevator which goes up the centre of a spiral staircase…pity they cant get the elevator numbering to match the building floor numbers!….AND apparently Mozart lived in this building foe a period of time …..I even loved the creaky floor! Much better than staying in a faceless hotel chain!
