On arriving in Palermo, Sicily we were amazed at the amazing landscape, so rocky and rugged and imposing in its own way.
Then after a pretty full breakfast we disembarked to find the HOHO (hop on hop off).
Two routes to cover, the red route and the blue. Bit of disorganised chaos on the part of the sightseeing bus company but we were eventually on our way. Like many of these European cities amazing architecture, Garibaldi monuments and statues to see
……BUT what jumped out at us was the litter, graffiti, chaotic traffic and parking problems. At one stage, I thought Himself was trying to get rid of me when he just grabbed my hand and marched out in front of the traffic. …but apparently that’s how you do it ….set off and keep a steady pace…..obviously I survived or I would not be writing this post…..some of the sights I will describe as an ABC ….and many of you will know what that means.
We didn’t find Palermo very inviting, maybe as it was the Mafia headquarters it has suffered over the years from money not being put back into the city itself. Mind you there is a fabulous monument to the mafia ….one of the most impressive in the city.
That being said we were back on board where more inviting things awaited us….no need to mention ….you have the gist of it by now!
PS Jacaranda trees are everywhere but have finished flowering whereas at home they are coming into flower.
