The currency is Dirhams, The Big Bus is a double decker HOHO bus, the degrees were in the high 30s, we were here for 3 days and the city is Dubai. Very glad we came here. We were up early from our Arabian Courtyard hotel
room furnished in true Arabian style to join the Big Bus Tour just across the road. The bus IS air conditioned like most places in Dubai…even bus stops. There were quite a few routes around the city but we started with the red route which took us from the old Dubai past various points of interest to the modern Dubai ….AMAZING…one minute you are looking at old forts, souks (old markets)
and dhow (transport boats)
and the next you are gazing at the tallest building in the world,
then at a man made palm island to watching fountains dance to Nessan Dorma.
We really got our money’s worth on the HOHO , also visiting 2 very huge malls with ice rinks,
ski slopes, aquariums and shops, shops, shops and even more shops with marble floors. Dubai has NO graffiti,
(OK just one) NO litter, and is a very westernized multi-cultural city with a huge number of expats. Today is our last day before travel and this morning we were both blown away by the Dubai Museum (just across the road from our hotel) what an interesting couple of hours spent here…the history is just amazing. Later today we are finishing off our trip in style. We are heading to the ONLY 7 star hotel in the world for High Tea…which will be VERY different from choking on chilli at the local pub!
….can’t come this far and not tick this off the bucket list! Will try to post on FB …but if not….next post will be the closing post written at the Murrumba Madhouse back home ….till then….pinkie to the sky!!!
