Zombie squirrels!

Not really, but the eyes in the photo certainly look a bit spooky! First full day of our holidays and we’re trying to get our body clocks synchronised with Canadian time 🙂 For those in Oz, subtract 2 hours and flip the am/pm bit. So, it’s 6.57pm Monday here, it’s 8.57 am Tuesday there … easy, eh. We’ve spent the day on the double decker bus tour of Toronto; it’s a 7 day pass, so we went around the whole route first, now we can get on and off as we please tomorrow and the rest of the week. We intend going to the Toronto Zoo, a ferry ride on Lake Ontario and go to a ballgame; Blue Jays versus Orioles! Great weather today, 18 degrees and clear skies. The squirrells are across the road from the hotel, in the grounds of the University Armoury, lovely spot, very pretty. Well, we’re into our 3rd or 4th Canadian Club and Canada Dry … so I’d better not write too much more 🙂 Maybe just a little more … made Skype calls to Katie and Vicki, plus a phone call to Tash (to see how much a phone call costs …) … hmmm, sent 9999 to balance … that was an $8 phone call, not too bad at all! Night all!

Still don’t like McDonalds!

It is now Monday morning in McDonalds for breakfast….Today our holiday begins. Had a decent night’s rest and can now function. First impressions , they like big things, huge Hummers and Titan V8s. The city life doesn’t really start till 10am. Beautiful clear day, expected  18 degrees. Hotel is in a great central location, so this week is already looking good. At this stage, our only problem is finding the WiFi (free wireless internet locations) ..In Australia all McDonalds have it , but not here! That’s why we came to McDonalds for breakfast. It is free in the hotel lobby, so what will happen is we will do up our blog in the room then run (that would be elevator) downstairs to post. We plan to have a day around town, bit of shopping , getting to know what and where, just watching out the window here, could be anywhere in Australia,  people seem pretty casual…..ahaa while sitting here in Maccas we have just been able to connect in to WiFi from coffeeshop next to Maccas…..hope their coffee is better! Woohoo now connected and can post , so here goes.

It was only … 21 hours to Toronto …

Phew! Finally here … long haul flights aren’t fun (shoosh Kyle!) Lorraine had the windows (36A) I took the middle .. and a coughing, hacking, snuffling bloody albatross sat on the aisle!! Fair dinkum, this bloke sat with both arms stuck out to the side .. to eat, I scrunched up onto myself and ate carefully (Tash, no spills, clean shirt all the way!!) Lorraine said she liked the extra room the window gave her, but it was still 13 hours cooped up in an aluminium tube. Long wait at US Customs (as usual), down to Terminal 4, onto the Toronto flight … another 4 1/2 hours. Finally arrived, no line up at Customs, straight through, grabbed bags, rang both the Mums then onto the bus to the Hilton. It’s now 8.20pm and we’re about to have a snack, a drink and then into bed, more tomorrow (it’s Mrs Always Right’s turn <g>)

night all!

T’was the night before travel

Well, well, well ….I awoke this morning to a non melodious version of ..”24 Hours from (not Tulsa, but) Toronto”…and the usual “Leaving on a Jet Plane” .. and so the day has gone on ..Pam & Ted, Mum, Georgia, Tash, Ian and a host of phone calls have filled our last day of preparation. Bundy and Chardy are bathed and ready, lawns mowed and of course manicure done (nails that is ) although Mr Right did “manicure” the lawns. Outgoing passenger cards are filled in, and if we have forgotten anything , then we will buy it over there as the exchange is great. Am getting excited now ..so will sign off from the OZ based keyboard until next time ….probably a Canadian QWERTY… thanks everyone for the good wishes …keep checking the blog…Love Mrs Always Right

Where will we be going?

I’m suffering from information bloat: post here? Post on Facebook? Post on http://www.murrumba.net/canada? Well … in all those places 🙂 I thought I’d add a map of where we’re going to this blog as well as giving a link to the webpage that has our actual itinerary. Now it’s 14 days and counting!

15 Days to Go!!!!

So it is early morning, Saturday and my biggest job this weekend is keeping Mr Right calm. It will be a quick trip to travel agent for remaining documents and then all about the preparations for Brisbane needs while we are away. Puppies, chookies, inlaws, mother! (You can put these 4 in order of importance!) Canadian Dollars are already in the wallet waiting to be spent!…will keep you updated …..Mrs Always Right

How easy is it to see these photos?

Getting ready to pack …

17 days until we fly out! We’ll be pulling the suitcases out this weekend and putting them in the front room. Then, it’s time to start sorting, packing and organising what we are going to take overseas. We’ll be in Canada and the US for nearly four weeks, so we’ll need a few changes of clothes (yes, an excuse for Lorraine to go out and buy new clothes!!). I also need to make enough meals for Bundy and Chardy for the time we’re away; that means buying the chicken and beef mince from our local produce store, cooking up the vegies, added a few handfuls of bran and then packing it all up in little freezer bags. We don’t expect Mum or Dad (or Lorraine’s Mum) to prepare the food for our dogs. Lots of other prep too; Lorraine getting nails and hair done, me getting a hair cut, writing lists for Mum and Dad …. oh, and lets fit work in there somewhere as well!

Speaking of which .. back to it 🙂
