Zombie squirrels!

Not really, but the eyes in the photo certainly look a bit spooky! First full day of our holidays and we’re trying to get our body clocks synchronised with Canadian time šŸ™‚ For those in Oz, subtract 2 hours and flip the am/pm bit. So, it’s 6.57pm Monday here, it’s 8.57 am Tuesday there … easy, eh. We’ve spent the day on the double decker bus tour of Toronto; it’s a 7 day pass, so we went around the whole route first, now we can get on and off as we please tomorrow and the rest of the week. We intend going to the Toronto Zoo, a ferry ride on Lake Ontario and go to a ballgame; Blue Jays versus Orioles! Great weather today, 18 degrees and clear skies. The squirrells are across the road from the hotel, in the grounds of the University Armoury, lovely spot, very pretty. Well, we’re into our 3rd or 4th Canadian Club and Canada Dry … so I’d better not write too much more šŸ™‚ Maybe just a little more … made Skype calls to Katie and Vicki, plus a phone call to Tash (to see how much a phone call costs …) … hmmm, sent 9999 to balance … that was an $8 phone call, not too bad at all! Night all!

I miss seeing squirrels here in Qatar, even if they’re little more than a rat with a bushy tail that climbs trees. The only animals we tend to see here are stray cats that roam the street, and occasionally a rat frequenting the dumpster at one of the restaurants that I have not dared to try simply because I saw a rat outside of it. Unless of course cockroaches count as animals? Seen a few big ones of those, but thankfully not in our flat!
