Vienna Day 3 presented a change in weather, a bit cooler but that did not stop us from further exploration. We decided to head off on the HOHO Green route but as that didn’t start till noon we had the morning to kill. More meandering around the various shops (Schwarovski), monuments, parks and buildings. Herself gives a piano recital at the Mozart monument (just as well the piano was stone and silent!) and then the rain got a little heavier for about an hour, decision was made to get inside and stay warm in the Sacher Café (as if this historical place was NOT on our agenda). So original Sacher Torte and cream AND Apple Strudel and ice cream were ordered (to share)…..then off to pick up the green route a 3 hour round trip to the Vienna woods. A walk through the rose garden while waiting for the bus gave our eyes and noses a treat….then absolutely beautiful green scenery as we travelled through the elite suburbs of Vienna, through wine villages and up to the peak. Some showers of rain did not spoil the scenery at all. Back to Vienna and Himself was by this stage only firing on about 2 cylinders so a visit to the “Apotheke” (pharmacy) and return to hotel room. During his sleep/recovering time Herself went out into the city centre shops and cafes/bars. More people watching and whilst I had a few glasses little “Pepe” kept me company, sitting on my lap for about 20 minutes. Back to the room at about 7pm …Himself worried as to where I was and felling a little better. So much better he felt like McDonalds for tea!!!!
Tomorrow train trip to Genoa !
