Seats, Scenery and Struggle with the Suitcases

So the alarms rings melodically on the phone @ 4 am!!!!
Taxi pick up at 5am, off to Wien Haupbahnhof (Main train station) in plenty of time for 6:30am first train leg to Worgl (with an umlaut). The extra time was worth the smells of all the fresh cooked pastries, paninis and other assorted baked goods in the fast sell outlets. Then heave the luggage in to the first-class coach and settle down for the eye entertainment that was ahead of us. There are just no words to describe the vistas. Observing the other passengers not able to find their seats and those that try to snavel a first-class seat adds to the entertainment. Then heave ho luggage again down from the train to the platform (someone really needs to introduce Europe to level platforms to the train) …a 20 minute delay for connecting train starts a panic in Herself for future connections …but obviously all was well in hindsight (marvellous thing hindsight!)……Worgl to Innsbruck and onto Verona was the second leg …so we crossed from Austria into Germany for a bit and then into Italy ….the technology with us, Himself’s Fitbit Surge, Skyroam internet and the phones had to keep up!!! Time to heave ho again …change trains …Verona, little platforms, everything is old and somewhat dirty but that is what makes travel so interesting, difference! Now this next leg was pretty interesting…..top speed 253km/h….but didn’t seem like it ……Now the scenery in Italy was very different again, lots of derelect buildings and unkept houses, graffiti everywhere, everything just needed a good lick of paint. Before long we arrive Milan and you guessed it heave ho again ….what an amazingly busy station ….and it was peak hour 5-6 o’clock…..then 20 minutes late we board for the final leg to Genoa/Genova….arriving at ¼ to 8 …still light…then NOT with the help of the phone directions (turn right, turn right, turn right)….and we hadn’t left the station! Resorted to trusty rusty map and hotel was 200metres down the street…..checked in …then out to pizzeria for a bite to eat and a relaxing wine …you guessed it time for bed!
Next post will possibly be out of sync as Himself wants to put something up about the Pension Nossek because Himself was as impressed as I was 17 years ago!
My next post will be first day in Genoa…which was today.
